Privacy policy

Routebook by Kington is a free, community-led road trip platform. This policy explains what personal data we handle, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

• Account details — your email address, display name and any profile information you choose to provide when you sign up.
• Content you create — routes, stops, highlights, ratings, comments, saved routes, and any photos or videos you upload.
• Authentication data — session tokens managed by Supabase. Tokens are stored in HTTP-only cookies; they are never exposed to client-side JavaScript.

Analytics and cookies

Routebook currently collects no analytics data and sets no tracking cookies. Session cookies used for authentication are strictly necessary and do not track you across other sites.

If we introduce analytics in future we will update this policy and, where required by law, ask for your consent before any data is collected.

How we use your data

To run the platform: authenticate your account, display your routes and contributions, enable saving and rating, and keep the service secure. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-party services

• Supabase — authentication, database and file storage. Data is stored in the EU. See supabase.com/privacy.
• Mapbox (optional) — interactive route maps. If configured, map tile requests pass through Mapbox servers. See mapbox.com/legal/privacy.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and associated data by contacting us; content you have contributed may remain in an anonymised form if it has been incorporated into other users' routes.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights and we will respond within 30 days.
