The medieval Rows, a unique system of first-floor covered galleries running the four main streets, have no parallel elsewhere in Europe.

The main draw is Tatton Park, a National Trust estate two miles north with a Regency mansion, gardens designed by Joseph Paxton, a deer park with around 1,000 deer, and a Japanese garden dating from 1910.
