Allow extra time and drive it in daylight. Fuel up in Fort Bragg before heading north. Take the signed Avenue of the Giants exit off US-101, not the highway itself. Pick up the auto-tour leaflet at the Weott visitor center. Old Town and the waterfront are walkable, so park once and explore on foot. Ferndale's Victorian village is a 20-minute drive south. Fern Canyon needs a day-use permit in summer, so book ahead. The Davison Road access is gravel and has a creek ford after rain. Check tide times before walking out to Battery Point Lighthouse; the causeway floods at high water. Howland Hill Road is not for large RVs.
