- Fly into Albuquerque (ABQ) and collect the hire car here. The city sits near 5,300 ft, so drink plenty of water on day one. Park once and walk the compact historic centre; pay lots fill early. Reserve a Meow Wolf time slot in advance. Taos Pueblo closes to visitors for periods in spring; check the calendar first. Allow a half to full day for the Enchanted Circle. Book Cumbres & Toltec tickets ahead; the train runs late May to October only. Allow a full day for the train and return shuttle. Ghost Ranch hikes and O'Keeffe home tours must be booked ahead. Fuel and shops are limited, so stock up in Española. Bandelier requires a shuttle in peak season (spring to autumn). Jemez has both natural and commercial hot springs; check access before you go. Allow about two hours from Jemez Springs to the airport. Time the final leg with room to spare for any evening flight.
