Skyline Drive overlooks
Skyline Drive runs 105 miles along the crest of the Blue Ridge with 75 named overlooks. The 35 mph limit keeps the pace slow and the views constant, from the patchwork Shenandoah Valley to the west to the Piedmont rolling away east. October brings the famous fall colour.

At 4,051 feet, Hawksbill is the highest point in Shenandoah National Park. A short, steep climb from the Hawksbill Gap parking area reaches a stone observation platform with a sweeping panorama of the central park and the valley beyond.
