- Buy the rovinieta (road vignette) at a petrol station near the airport before joining the motorway. You need it before driving south to Sinaia. Peleș Castle requires timed entry; book online the evening before. The castle is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Bran Castle draws coach tours from 10am; go before 9am or after 4pm. Rasnov Fortress is a short detour and far less crowded. Stay inside or very close to the citadel for the best atmosphere; the upper town after dark is completely different to the daytime experience. Corvin Castle in Hunedoara is 65 km west: allow 1.5 hours each way and at least half a day inside the castle. The A1 motorway from Sibiu to Bucharest is fast and well-surfaced. Leave Sibiu by 9am for a midday arrival.
