- Charleston is the last big-city supermarket and cheap fuel for a few days. Fill up and stock the cooler here. Book whitewater rafting ahead in summer. For the bridge photo, hike to Long Point rather than stopping on the span. Lewisburg's restaurants are the best on the route. Reserve dinner, and leave time to wander the historic downtown. Route 150 is unmaintained and effectively closed November to April. Drive it May to October, and fuel up in Marlinton. The Seneca Rocks viewing trail is a steady 1.3-mile climb. Carry water; the last fuel before Spruce Knob is in Seneca. Lindy Point is best at sunset and a short walk from the car park. Dolly Sods roads are rough but car-passable in summer. Davis to Charleston is the longest leg at about 3.5 hours. Leave mid-morning to reach the airport comfortably.
